We chose a 5/8 inch thick, interlocking, 6 layer laminated flooring system with real wood walnut veneer, finished with a clear coating. This gives us the natural wood look, feel, and warmth that we insisted upon! It also gives us additional temperature and sound insulation. (Note: Sorry the pictures do not do it justice)
The finished floors are already insulated between the joists, and then have a double layer of 1/2 inch plywood screwed to the joists and then this flooring is installed (glued and nailed) on top.
Additionally, on the second floor, an additional 3/4 inch panel of insulation board is screwed to the top of the plywood.
THE HOUSE IS WARM AND QUIET!!!
